2011 Camaro Accessorized with Phantom Hidden Headlight Grille Set

trend automotive
There seems to be no end to the variety of styling accessories for GM's reborn Chevrolet Camaro muscle car. This here styling set from "DJ Grilles" is called the "Phantom Hidden Headlight Grille" and it comprises a very Lincoln-like upper grille with the option of fixed or removable headlamp bezels and a matching piece for the lower air vent. Check out the pics and videos of the Camaro fitted with the aftermarket grilles after the jump, and tell us what you think about it in the comments section.

2012 Chevrolet Camaro Caught Wearing LED Tails and Fatty-Bo-Batty Side Mirrors

trend automotive
We've already shown you video of the 2012 Camaro Z/28 doing its thing on the Nürburgring, and now there are more spy pictures of the facelifted model it could be based on. Other than the appropriately modern-looking LED taillights [voice your thoughts below], the updated version of Chevy's own pony car is believed to also benefit significantly from a yet unseen refreshed interior.

trend automotiveBesides the rear lights and diffuser-mounted reflectors, the major update is a pair of the most obtuse, minivan-ish side mirrors ever (EVER). Hopefully those are just for testing / Euro market purposes, but that's probably not the case.

Other improvements for the 2012 model year should include engine/suspension tweaks as well as more special editions (this competes with the Mustang, after all).

As soon as we know a little more, we'll let you know. Until then, how about we get some brainstorming going on regarding the interior? I'll go first: less cheap plastic.

2011 Camaro SS Convertible Neiman Marcus Edition, Now on Video

trend automotive
Following on from Tuesday's presentation of the special edition version of the forthcoming 2011 Camaro SS Convertible that will be offered in this year's Nieman Marcus Christmas catalog, Chevrolet released the first videos of the car with GM's people talking us around the design details.

The Nieman Marcus edition of GM's drop-top muscle car will be produced in a limited run of 100 units, each powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine with pricing set at $75,000 a piece. The regular Camaro Convertible will be given its public premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show in late November. Click through for the videos, or check out our previous post for all the details on this special edition (but obviously overpriced) model.

2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible gets Special Edition for Neiman Marcus' Christmas Book

trend automotive
After the auction of the first publicly available production model of the 2011 Camaro Convertible that sold for $205,000, and the release of a single official press image last week, Chevrolet continues to drum up interest for its new topless Camaro with the announcement of a new special edition version that will be showcased in the annual Neiman Marcus "Christmas Book".

The General plans to build only 100 examples of the Camaro Convertible Neiman Marcus Edition, each priced $75,000, with first deliveries set to take place in the spring of 2011.

All Neiman Marcus Editions are based on the Camaro Convertible SS model and come equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 engine that delivers 426HP and 420 lb-ft of torque when paired to a six-speed manual gearbox, and 400HP and 410 lb-ft, when combined to a 6-speed automatic.

The cars are finished in an exclusive Deep Bordeaux exterior color, accented by subtle, "ghosted" rally stripes. The body paint is complimented by a color-matched fabric top, windshield frame finished in matte silver, and a set of 21-inch, polished aluminum wheels with red detailing, wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tires both, all of which are exclusive to the Neiman Marcus edition.

trend automotiveThe interior of the special edition model receives exclusive leather interior appointments, including amber-colored leather seating surfaces offset by black leather side panels and red stitching.

Red accents are also found on the center console, steering wheel and shift knob, while the Deep Bordeaux color from the exterior appears on the dash and door panels.

Other features worth mentioning including the standard Brembo disc brakes, LED halo-ring headlamps, Bluetooth connectivity, rear parking assist, and a 245-watt, Boston Acoustics sound system.

"Neiman Marcus provides a great platform to showcase the new Camaro Convertible," said Tom Peters, Chevrolet Design director. "And, it enabled us to create a special edition car that combines the powerful design and performance of the new Camaro with an element of exclusivity, craftsmanship and customized luxury."

For those of you interested in buying us a Christmas gift, reservations will be accepted from October 19, 2010. To place a reservation, all you have to do is call 1.877.662.6276.

2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Unveiled: World Premiere in Los Angeles, on Sale in February from $30,000

trend automotive
Taking a short break from our Paris Motor Show coverage, General Motors surprised us this morning with the release of the first official picture of the production 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible.

The soft-top iteration of GM's muscle car will make its world debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show on November 17, and arrive in Chevrolet showrooms in February 2011 with a starting price -yes, we have that too- of $30,000, including $850 destination, for the base V6 model. Full pricing details will be released later this year.

"The Convertible will make the all-new Camaro, already a smash-hit, even more desirable to a greater range of drivers," says Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing.

Not surprisingly, the Convertible model will be available in the same model and engine offerings as the Camaro Coupe. The base model will have a 3.6-liter V6 with direct-injection pumping out 312-ponies and returning 29 miles per gallon on the highway, while the SS model will feature the 6.2-liter V8 producing 426-horsepower. A six-speed manual gearbox will be standard, with an optional six-speed automatic.

First Publicly Available 2011 Camaro Convertible Fetches $205,000

trend automotive
The promise of being the owner of the first available production version of the yet-to-be-released 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible was more than enough to make an unnamed collector drop $205,000 for the car at last weekend's Barrett-Jackson Auction. But at least the sale was for a good cause as 100 per cent of proceeds from the winning bid will go to the YMCA of Southern Nevada.

The car shown at the auction was the Camaro Convertible Concept. The actual production model seen in the teaser shots we added in the gallery below is scheduled to make its world premiere later this fall -most likely at the LA Auto Show- and go on sale across the States early next year.

General Motors said that for historical purposes, it will keep the first production example of the 2011 Camaro Convertible.

GM to Auction Production 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible on Friday, Debut Announced for this Fall (LA?)

trend automotive
We've yet to see the final production version of the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible, but one lucky collector will have the chance to be become the first owner of the car on Friday, several months before it arrives (in both V6 and V8 flavors) in showrooms in the first quarter of 2011.

To explain, General Motors has tied the knot with Greg Heinrich, owner of Fairway Chevrolet in Las Vegas, to offer the second production example of the upcoming 2011 Camaro Convertible at the Barrett-Jackson Auction on Friday (Sept. 24) at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the YMCA of Southern Nevada.

For the record, the first production copy of the car will be kept by GM for historical purposes.

The Detroit automaker said the winning bidder can opt for color, engine, transmission, trim and factory installed equipment. The buyer will also have the option to take delivery of the car at a dealership in their hometown OR at the GM Heritage Museum in Detroit.

Understandably, GM will show the concept version of the car at the auction and not the actual production model which according to the company, will make its debut later this fall. We assume this means GM will unveil the 2011 Camaro Convertible at the Los Angeles Auto Show in late November.
